Team Derby In the Community

Team Derby in the Community project aims to support and maintain the existing school sport delivery by developing and deploying students of the University out in to local schools as lead or assistant sports coaches in a variety of sports.

The programme supports the Universities objectives of creating ‘real-life’ working environment by providing the students opportunities to work on real life projects in real school environments acting as a sports coach.

WORK OR VOLUNTEER AS A SPORTS ACTIVATOR

Team Derby is looking to recruit a number of students to fulfil the role of Sports Activator to help with the coordination and delivery of either casual Pay as You Play sports sessions or our Intra Mural (social) sports league programme. Some of the positions are offered on a paid basis, others are volunteer roles. All will provide students with the following opportunities.

  • Potential to gain a relevant qualification in the relevant sport
  • Bursary support towards coaching and officiating costs
  • Team Derby Sports Activator t-shirt
  • Developing both personal and work-related skills providing valuable experience to help further employability
  • Being involved in an innovative project to promote Team Derby and active participation in sport
  • Enjoyment and chance to meet new people
