Our Scholarship award aims to support talented individual athletes through their academic studies and provides a package of services to support their eilte player development.
For the academic year 2012-13 Scholarships are only available to individuals participating within one of the Team Derby Performance Sports (Badminton, Basketball, Table Tennis).
Team Derby would also consider applications from talented athletes who compete on an individual basis at a International level.
All performance sports scholars will be expected to participate in university club training sessions and BUCS matches.
They should be enthusiastically committed to representing Team Derby in their sport and supporting student sport.
They must be prepared to assist with University and Team Derby marketing and promotion activities and opportunities.
They will be required to wear Team Derby clothing when representing the University.
Scholars will submit Progress Reports when required by the Sport Performance Officer

All scholars will be required to reapply to the scholarship programme for the next academic year. Any student athlete wishing to apply must be enrolled on a course or have an offer for the forthcoming year.
Ten Scholarships are being offered 2012/13. All applications will be considered by the Team Derby Awards Panel and any offers made will be at the panel’s discretion. Please note that applications will be prioritised and ranked according to merit. The submission of an application, or prior inclusion in the programme, does not guarantee the offer of an award.
Supporting and nurturing individual talent is a key priority for Team Derby. We not only want to support our performance sport athletes but also our National level sports performers in our other BUCS sports. The Team Derby Bursary award aims to provide financial support towards the cost of competition fees, transport and accessing support sport services within the University.
For a sports performer meeting the criteria and competing at a minimum of National Level,
-£400 funding is available.
-Reduction in sport fees
-Physiotherapy Support
-Strength and Conditioning Support
-Team Derby Kit
Signed and dated reference on headed paper is required in addition to a completed accurate application form
Progress reports will be required as requested by the Performance Sports Officer.
It is the sports performer's responsibility to ensure all receipts and payment evidence is maintained and submitted in order to receive funding.
Previous successful applicants are not guaranteed to receive further awards and it will be necessary to reapply the following year.
