Matt Hardy, 3rd year Journalism

Team Derby Futsal Manager

Matt built the Team Derby Futsal Club from the ground up by recruiting a mixture of students and local players to compete in the FA National Futsal League against well established clubs such as Team Northumbria and Middlesbrough Futsal Club. He has also set up an under 18’s team and is looking to branch out into the community to encourage more young people to play Futsal.

Coaching and Volunteering

Team Derby’s coaching and volunteering programmes provide our students and staff at the university with various opportunities for personal development – and will help individuals gain relevant experience, develop vocational skills, and enhance their employability within sport.

Our Coach and Officials education programme and coaching bursary fund supports budding leaders and coaches to gain the necessary awards to lead, coach or referee at the appropriate level.

Team Derby in the Community offers the opportunity for individuals to put their sports knowledge and expertise into practice through volunteering placements within local schools and community clubs.

All Team Derby based volunteering hours can be accredited to your Higher Education Achievement Record (HEAR). The HEAR scheme has been developed to help students maximise the benefits of activities undertaken in their spare time (as well as through their academic studies) providing prospective employers with valuable evidence of skills and experience.
