The University of Derby Cycling Club (UDCC) is both a competitive and recreational club catering for all disciplines and abilities within cycling. We offer social road and mountain bike rides to the club members as well as access to the velodrome for the track riders. The club has seen huge growth in the last couple of years and is now recognised as a performance sport by the Union of Students and Team Derby; because of this we receive additional funding providing coaches, training sessions, strength and conditioning and race entry. The Club is seeking to continue to grow all aspects; in particular identifying and developing talent from amateur athletes.
The club offers additional training to the performance squad who have had considerable success in 2017, and are set for an even bigger 2018. UDCC have a focus on track cycling and have coaches and training provisions in place to grow and improve athletes into high level track riders. In 2017 the performance team have risen to the top of the British University and College Sports (BUCS) Track Championships. Some recent successes are listed below:
The team currently hold the BUCS team pursuit record, smashing the previous by 11 seconds in a time of 4:11:640.
We also hold the BUCS individual pursuit record of 4:17:217.

Meet the coaching staff
As team manager and owner of Vitus Pro Cycling, and is one of the only female sports directors in Europe, in charge of a men's professional cycling team. Cherie has been instrumental in helping young riders make the transition to professional ranks.
“I have ridden for European teams, including the Swiss based Mazza-Tege Team, the top based Italian team Mapei. I competed with distinction in 8 Tour de France Feminine finishing the race 7 times. It is an incredible honour to be working alongside all the other coaches at The University of Derby, very proud to be Head Coach for cycling, representing Team Derby. "
Jo is a graduate of the university having studied Sports Coaching and Sports Development.
